Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Easy Shabad Finder mobile application and the website at easyshabadfinder.space (together, the "App"). By downloading, installing or using the App, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

Please also read our Privacy Policy, which explains what information the App handles.

1. Use of the App

• Easy Shabad Finder is provided for personal, non-commercial use.
• The App is offered for learning, reading and devotional reflection.
• You agree not to misuse the App — including attempting to hack, reverse engineer, decompile, scrape at scale, overload our servers, or interfere with other users' access.
• You agree not to use the App to redistribute its content commercially or to present it as your own.

2. Gurbani content and attribution

We treat Gurbani with the reverence it deserves. Original Gurbani verses and translations are never altered.

• Shabad content and translations are sourced from BaniDB.
• The complete Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji reader uses data from the Shabad OS Database (public domain).
• English translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa.
• Punjabi translation (Sri Guru Granth Darpan) by Prof. Sahib Singh Ji.
• All rights in this content remain with the original custodians and contributors. We gratefully acknowledge these scholars and the volunteers who made this work publicly available.

If you believe any content is displayed incorrectly or should not appear, please contact us and we will review it promptly.

3. Intellectual property

• The App's design, source code, interface, name and logo belong to Easy Shabad Finder.
• These Terms grant you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the App. No other rights are granted.
• Gurbani content itself is not owned by us — see section 2.

4. YouTube video content

• Kirtan videos are displayed using the official embedded player provided by YouTube.
• All video content is owned by the respective creators and YouTube channels.
• Easy Shabad Finder does not host, store, download, re-upload or modify any video or audio content.
• Video availability and playback are governed by YouTube and the content owners.
• Any advertisements shown during playback are served and controlled by YouTube.
• Easy Shabad Finder is an independent app and is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by YouTube, Google, or any individual channel, Ragi or Jatha featured in the App.
• Your use of embedded video is also subject to the YouTube Terms of Service.

5. Your content and device data

• Favourites, folders, bookmarks, pinned Banis, saved videos and preferences are stored on your device.
• Because this data is stored locally, uninstalling the App, clearing its data or losing your device will remove it. We cannot recover it for you.
• You are responsible for the content you create in the App, such as folder names.

6. Subscriptions and payment

The App is free to download and use. We may offer an optional paid subscription ("Premium") that unlocks additional features. Premium is offered as a monthly or an annual subscription. The current price of each is shown in the App before you buy. Where a subscription is offered, the following terms apply.

• Billing through the app stores. Subscriptions are purchased and billed through the Apple App Store or Google Play. Payment is charged to your store account at confirmation of purchase. We do not receive or store your payment card details.
• Automatic renewal. Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period unless auto-renewal is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours of the end of the current period, at the price then in effect for your region.
• Free trial. Where a free trial is offered, any unused portion of the trial is forfeited if you purchase a subscription during the trial period. Free trials are limited to one per store account, as enforced by Apple and Google.
• Managing and cancelling. You can manage or cancel your subscription in your Apple ID or Google Play account settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period; you keep access until then. Deleting the App does not cancel a subscription.
• Pricing. Prices are shown in your local currency inside the App before purchase, and are set from the app stores' own price tiers. Prices may vary by region and may change; any change will apply from your next billing period.
• Refunds. Purchases are handled by Apple and Google, so refunds are subject to their policies. We are generally unable to issue refunds directly and can only direct you to the relevant store.
• One purchase, one store account. A subscription is tied to the App Store or Google Play account that bought it, and is managed and cancelled there. If you reinstall the App or change device, use Restore purchases on the Premium screen to recover it. Because the App has no sign-in, a subscription bought on iOS is not recognised on Android, or the other way round.
• Free features. Core Gurbani reading and searching remain available without a subscription. If a paid feature is discontinued, we will not charge you for a renewal of it.

7. Third-party services

The App uses third-party services to function and to help us fix problems, including Google Firebase (analytics, crash reporting and notifications), Branch (shareable Shabad links) and YouTube (video playback). Where a subscription is offered, RevenueCat and the app stores process the purchase. Your use of the App is also subject to those providers' own terms and privacy policies. 8. Availability and changes to the App

• We may add, change, suspend or remove features at any time, and may stop supporting older versions of the App.
• The App depends on our servers and on third-party services, so availability cannot be guaranteed and interruptions may occur.
• Some features require an internet connection. Offline reading is limited to content already saved on your device.

9. Disclaimer of warranties

The App is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted, timely, secure or error-free, or that content, translations or search results will be complete or accurate.

Translations and teekas are the work of the scholars credited in section 2 and are provided to aid understanding. They are not a substitute for study with a qualified teacher.

10. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Easy Shabad Finder and its developers shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or any loss of data, arising out of or in connection with your use of the App. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

11. Children's use

• The App is suitable for general audiences.
• We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Parents and guardians are responsible for supervising children's use of the App, including any video content played through YouTube.

12. Termination

You may stop using the App at any time by uninstalling it. We may suspend or terminate access if these Terms are breached or if we are required to do so by law. Sections that by their nature should survive termination — including intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability and governing law — will continue to apply.

13. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of British Columbia and the applicable laws of Canada, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. If you use the App elsewhere, you are responsible for complying with your local laws. Nothing here removes any mandatory consumer rights you have where you live.

14. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will change the "Last updated" date above. Material changes will be signalled in the App or on this page. Continued use of the App after an update means you accept the revised Terms.
